The Vermont Country Store has been open since 1946!
It was founded by Vrest and Ellen Orton. Today the Vermont Country Store is still a family run business. Currently Vrest and Ellen's son, Lyman Orton, is running the business and his three sons, Cabot (31), Gardner (29), and Eliot (28), serve on Board of Directors and are learning the responsibilities of running a family business. As a family business they make a serious commitment to the practice of giving back to their communities and to this special place called Vermont. All the terrific folks who work the Vermont Country Store serve as ambassadors of The Vermont Country Store to their local community organizations and it's through them that much of our contributions are made.
